Friendsgiving
Thinking back on some of my favorite memories this past year, I wanted to share my experience hosting my first #Friendsgiving for No Kid Hungry.
My friends would pay to see me cook an actual meal. Seriously. So, this Thanksgiving, I challenged myself to host my very own Friendsgiving to benefit the wonderful organization No Kid Hungry. No Kid Hungry is a national campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America. They help make sure kids have the food they need to learn and grow and, as a mom, that’s something I can really get behind—even if it means I have to learn how to cook to show my support.
Since it was obvious I was going to need a little bit of help in the kitchen, I called in some backup to give me a few food lessons before the big day: Martha Stewart!
Martha shared with me her secrets to a successful Thanksgiving meal—and then showed me how to prepare them all, too:
—
Delicious cornbread (in the shape of turkeys, of course)
•
•
A traditional dish with a twist, like my family’s Famous Green Bean Casserole made with fresh, fried onion rings
•
A perfect pie, like Martha’s Deep Dish Pumpkin-Meringue Pie
•

Once I had those three dishes under my apron belt, I got busy in the kitchen and it all turned out (mostly) great! And like most gatherings with my girlfriends, it was filled with lots of laughing and great food. A big shout-out of love and thanks to Martha Stewart and my friends at Green Giant, Found Rentals, Casa de Perrin, Bowen House, WhamBam Events, and Gaby Dalkin.
