Kids Crafts: Rainbow Rice

This weekend we experimented with dyeing rice to make a fun sensory bin for the kids.

Sensory play is incredibly beneficial in child development.

According to many studies, it supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills and problem solving skills.

It was actually super simple and resulted in hours of creativity and fun!

What You Need

1 cup of white rice

1 teaspoon white vinegar

food coloring

What You Do

Use a ziploc bag to mix one cup of rice, one teaspoon of vinegar and a few drops of food coloring- you can add more or less based on the color you are trying to achieve.

Close the ziploc and shake it up!

Easy as that!

Next we put all of our colored rice in a rainbow pattern and hid little treasures throughout- we used little crystals and pretend coins but you can really use anything you dream of!

Finally, I let the kids dig in and they used tweezers and other household items to explore the rainbow magic.

Love Neons?

We got inspired by all the fun colors and put together a collection of our favorite bright shoe styles.
