DIY Crafts for Kids - Garden Mosaics
If you are lucky to have a yard or outdoor space, we know you are constantly finding new ways to enjoy it with your kids this summer! Here’s an art project that is fun and creative for kids (and adults!) of all ages. My kids love to see their work displayed in the garden and we even gave a few as keepsake gifts!
Step 1:
Set up your workspace while the kids hunt for cool rocks or trinkets to layer into the mosaic. A kit will come with glass tiles and stones but found rocks, beads or old costume jewelry add a personal touch.
Step 2:
Mix up your cement! Because I’m a semi-homemade mom of 2 busy boys, we used this kit we found at Michael’s or a local craft store. Just add water! But if you’re up for a challenge, you can DIY your own plaster or cement too!
Step 3:
Pour your plaster, give it a few taps and it’s time to ADD YOUR FLAIR! Follow a pattern, or don’t - the only rule is don’t push too hard (warning that is all little hands will want to do!). The stones and cement will settle with one smooth tap when you are done.
Step 4:
Put your masterpiece somewhere cool and dry to harden for 24 hours.
