Snow Day

There are so many positives to living in Southern California during the winter. You can still go to the beach, you don’t have to wear 100 layers of clothes, and there’s not a ton of rain.

The absolute worst part about living in Southern California is that we don’t get snow unless we drive to the mountains. Since my whole family wasn’t going to be together on Christmas, we wanted to do something so that the cousins could all play together, so we brought the snow to them!

It was so much fun creating a big snow play area they’re both a little and the bigger kids could enjoy. There’s such magic in seeing someone, no matter what their age, experience snow for the first time!

After all the snow play, we set up a station for the kids to make gingerbread houses, make custom hot chocolate at the hot chocolate cart, and load up on all the holiday sweets. I mean, what are the holidays without eating so much candy that you want to throw up, right?

If you want to have all the fun of gingerbread house-making, with a little less of the mess, order some stainless steel trays (like the old school lunch ones) and you can divide up ingredients in cupcake pans for the kids to share, and then each child (or adult!) can create on their own tray. They’re washable and reusable and a great thing to have around the house for all your messy projects!

Christmas was a hit last year, but it wasn’t because of the snow-it was because we all got to be together and celebrate with our family and friends.
